My academic background focused heavily on oceanography and chemistry. These disciplines have led me to a strong appreciation of our oceans, in particular how the ocean affects our climate. Ocean conservation and environmentalism are fields which I'm very passionate about. I also quite like surfing. My passion for science urges me to share it. In a world where scientific truths are often muddied by political nonsense, a strongly educated and critically-thinking population is needed if we are to mitigate our impending climate crisis. The study of mathematics is often abhorred, yet is the most crucial for scientific understanding. I love bringing mathematics to tangible reality for my students. Scientific literacy relies on mathematical literacy. One day perhaps even our politicians will be scientifically literate. My mission with my students is not only to develop mathematical skills necessary for scholastic success, but also to enhance critical thinking and analysis across disciplines.
